Although I don’t see much changes to the documentation from 11g to 12c, but this is still useful for reviewing performance tuning. Go ahead and download it from Oracle.

Important Note on OBIEE 12c Visual Analyzer (Data Visualization) Security Settings
In OBIEE 12c, Oracle highly recommends to use Fusion Middleware Security Model.
One of the limitations in using initialization blocks is that Data Visualization doesn’t authenticate against init blocks.
Another important note is when migrating to FMW Security, users will not be able to login because the accounts were created in the Web Catalog with initialization blocks are not valid any more. When migrating, you will need to clean up the init block users form the Web Catalog and new valid accounts can then be created.
The below script will remove all the init block users from the Web Catalog cache.

NOTE: PLEASE TAKE A CATALOG BACK UP BEFORE RUNNING THIS SCRIPT. THESE CHANGES CAN NOT BE REVERTED.
To run the script, copy it over to a server and execute it. Script will prompt the Administrator to enter the catalog path.

In Guillaume Slee last article using OBIEE Agents to burst reports started us off. The recent Part 2 is out and we will define the bursting definition before continuing to part 3. He has also highlighted the key steps in using Saschinvoke which is the command line tool for scheduler. The good thing is, he using Windows for this demonstration which I’m extremely used to. Following part 2 will be part 3 which is the final part and he will walk us through the batch scripting to launch the agents.

Bursting using OBIEE Agents: Part 1 of 3
We all had a problem with bursting in OBIEE. The only tool providing this feature is Publisher but it requires a lot of extra efforts to complete a bursting using Publisher since it will not leverage the RPD for bursting. Recently, Guillaume Slee has written an article using OBIEE Agents to burst reports. It’s an excellent article so take a look if you are interested. I’ll keep this updated when Part 2 is out!

OBIEE Print Dashboard Page PDF without Prompts
By default, OBIEE does not allow you to print PDF without the prompts. The best workaround is to create a custom button using javascript which points to a hidden dashboard page made for printing. Then we can disable the print button in the dashboard and just use the custom javascript button for printing.
