OBIEE Setting Agent to Email the Entire Dashboard

A reader recently requested to see if I could write up a tutorial on emailing OBIEE dashboards in PDF format?

To start off, you will need to create a New Agent.

In General Tab, you will first set the priority of this email. The priority of this delivery can be set to High, Normal, Low. The priority works with the delivery profile for a user to determine the destination for delivery content of different priorities.

So the steps to configure your Profile is, click your username highlighted in below as step 1. Step 2 is to go to Delivery Options, 3. Add a Email, 4. Add a Delivery Profile, 5. Refer to the Email you created and set to normal. 6. Cross check that you have chosen Normal in the new Agent.

General

Setup the “Run As” . If you set Recipient, the credentials of each recipient will be used to generate the Dashboard. If you set Specified User, all recipients receive the same content as if they were the “specified user”.

I will use my admin account for now.

In Schedule tab, we have more choices to make which is to do with frequency. If we set “Frequency” to never, the “Enabled” checkbox will be dimmed out. This option will only allow adhoc runs of the agent.

The other options are pretty straightforward hence I will not go through them.

I will go directly to Delivery Contents and skip Conditions for this post.

In delivery contents, set a subject for the email. Choose a dashboard page and choose PDF. If you would like to email the entire dashboard page, click Entire but PDF option will not be available.

Save the Agent and you are ready to Run. Setup Recipients if you need and I will not go through that either since it’s pretty straightforward as well. To run, click the top right icon that looks like a robot with a play button.

Check your email afterwards and you will get the following if you have set the entire dashboard.

Emailed

And if you set PDF for a single dashboard page:

That’s it for today.
